Hinchley Wood Primary School

Hinchley Wood Primary School

Admission arrangements for Hinchley Wood Primary School - 2019/20

The Published Admission Number for initial entry to Hinchley Wood Primary School in 2019 will be 90.

Applications for admission at the normal intake will be managed in accordance with Surrey’s coordinated scheme for primary admission. Applications for admission to Reception will open from 29 October 2018 with a deadline to SCC School Admissions by 15 January 2019.

Children with a statement of special educational needs or an education, health and care plan that names the school will be allocated a place before other children are considered.  In this way, the number of places available will be reduced by the number of children with a statement or education, health and care plan that names the school.

Where the school is over-subscribed for any year group, applications for entry in 2019/20 will be ranked in the following order:

  1. Looked after and previously looked after children (see Note 1 of attachment)
  2. Exceptional social/medical need (see Note 2 of attachment)
  3. Siblings, at the time of admission, for whom the school is the nearest to their home address (see Notes 3, 4 & 5 of attachment)
  4. Non-siblings for whom the school is the nearest to their home address (see Notes 4 & 5 of attachment)
  5. Other siblings, at the time of admission, for whom the school is not the nearest to their home address (see Notes 3, 4 & 5 of attachment)
  6. Any other children (see Note 5 of attachment)

If within any category there are more children than places available, any remaining places will be offered to children who meet that criterion on the basis of proximity of the child’s home address to the school. The distance will be measured in a straight line from the address point of the child’s home address, as set by Ordnance Survey to the nearest official school gate for pupils to use.  This is calculated using the admissions team’s Geographical Information System.

Children are admitted to school in September at the beginning of the school year following their fourth birthday.  All children can attend school full time if their parents wish. However, for the Autumn term, parents of children with 1st January—31st August birthdays can choose for their child to start on a part time basis or full time basis or alternatively choose a place at Nursery or other Early Learning setting if they felt it was in their child’s best interest.

Surrey County Council is currently the admission authority for this school.  To find up to date information about the school's admission arrangements and details on how to apply, either as part of the normal intake or during the school year,  please use this link to the Surrey County Council website.

The content of the admissions policy for 2018- 2019 is the same as 2017-2018 and 2018 - 2019 (with the 2018 - 2019 version available to download below).
